The house
The house at Gerard Doustraat was built in 1886, has a nice façade and has 5 levels with 8 rooms (surface 10 to 25 square meters / 120 to 290 square feet).
It is next to the "Boerenwetering", one of the canals leading to Rijksmuseum and the old centre. There is no elevator. The Gerard Doustraat and Ruijsdaelkade are low traffic streets. Public transport stops round the corner.

Great diversity
Gerard Doustraat/ Ruijsdaelkade is situated in the old southern part of the centre of Amsterdam called “Oud-Zuid / de Pijp”.
Located very centrally between the old centre, the western, the eastern and new southern part of the city. De Pijp has a nice laid-back atmosphere. Here you can experience Dutch daily life with a multicultural accent. There are a lot of small enterprises.
You are close to all kinds of shopping possibilities: like the most well-known daily market from Holland, the Albert Cuijp market two blocks away, the Hema department store and the more sophisticated shopping streets around Museum Square. A great variety of restaurants and pubs too.
Centrally located
The important sights of Amsterdam are located within a 5-minute walk: the Museum Square, the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Concert Hall, Heineken Brewery Museum and the old centre with it's characteristic canals only take a five minute walk from Alexander's.
Great recreation
Relax in the Vondelpark, Sarphatipark , Beatrixpark or the green Museum Square. By bicycle you can make a trip along the river Amstel to the village of Ouderkerk in less than an hour or follow the dike north to the village of Durgerdam on the lake IJsselmeer. A visit to Zaanse Schans, the windmill area with clog maker, cheese farm and Zaans Museum is a another nice thing to do (north of Amsterdam: 45 minutes by public transport). Try the Amsterdam nightlife at Leidse Plein Square or Rembrandt Square. In case you are visiting a conference or exhibition: the RAI Centre is near.
Western canalbelt. Quarter Old-West. Close to the daily ten Kate Market and next to Jordaan, Leidse Plein square, Vondelpark and Museum square.

Location 3 - Nassaukade and 4 - Kinkerstraat
